The management team at AMS has years of experience in evolving cutting edge management tools for employee management and managing financial services products. They are senior managers who have been at the forefront of driving the evolution of IT management solutions to meet New Zealand’s most complex employment conditions.

Noel Reid

Noel Reid - Founding Director


The opportunity that drove the formation of AMS 35 years ago was the introduction of real-time processing to the insurance sector; Noel was a co-founder. Noel notes “We’ve always thrived on innovating within complex environments. From the beginning its been all about the Customers. We’ve always sought partnerships, to help ensure the innovation is practical. Our focus has always been around the best possible outcomes for our Customers, hence earning us the right to a long term relationship. We aspire to “go the extra mile” and then some!!”

Joseph Yip

Joseph Yip - CEO


Joseph joined AMS out of the University of Auckland 30 years ago with a BSc in computer science. Since that time he has been part of virtually every aspect of AMS’ development. Coming up with logical solutions, thinking outside the square and not losing sight of the big picture and designing process and approach to deliver outcomes is Joseph’s passion. He enjoys helping build a great company, one he believes has deserved global aspirations.

Tobin Blathwayt

Tobin Blathwayt - Chief Financial Officer


Tobin is a finance and management professional with 25 years' experience mainly with Pricewaterhouse Coopers and General Electric in New Zealand, England and the United States in a number of senior general management, finance, quality and performance improvement roles.

A Chartered Accountant, Tobin also has extensive experience as a Chief Financial Officer, and more recently as Chief Operating Officer in listed and unlisted companies.

With an MBA specialising in strategy, Tobin has a deep understanding of business drivers in mature businesses; and recently completed a Masters in Commerce and Entrepreneurship at Auckland University, which is providing a similar insight into earlier stage businesses.

Richard Taylor

Richard Taylor - GM Product Delivery


Richard has spent almost 20 years in the IT industry developing and delivering solutions both in-house and as a product/solutions provider. He believes that IT solutions are more than software systems.  Those systems are instead part of delivering excellent business outcome.  That means a new level of engagement and understanding about what the customer needs and a real passion to deliver quality results.

Peter Idoine

Peter Idoine - Executive Director


Peter is an experienced executive who has leadership roles in NZ, USA, UK and returning to NZ. Peter led Sun Microsystems NZ for 3 years prior to joining Oracle NZ as Managing Director in 2007 where he led the business when Oracle was acquiring 2 companies per month. In 2013 Peter decided to focus on helping NZ Inc. – leveraging his network and experience for NZ owned companies.

In 2014 Peter provided advisory services to AMS and in January 2015 Peter took on an Executive Director role responsible for Customer Satisfaction, Sales and Marketing.

Peter is an independent director of several other NZ Technology companies and is a member of NZ Institute of Directors. 

Andrew Tunnicliffe

Andrew Tunnicliffe - GM Services


Andrew brings over 25 years' experience in IT-enabled business change to his role as Professional Services Manager at AMS having worked in that domain across a variety of roles in New Zealand and the UK. Putting the customer first and focusing on their required business outcomes are the hallmarks of his approach. He aims to balance innovation with pragmatism to deliver services that exceed expectations and enable our customers to maximise the potential of their AMS solutions.

"We succeed when our customers succeed," he notes, "and our customers have already taken a step in the direction of success when they engage AMS. The goal of Professional Services is to work in partnership with our customers to support and guide them on their journey."

Donna Delaney

Donna Delaney - Services Manager



Donna is a seasoned Payroll and HRIS leader with extensive experience in managing all aspects of complex, 24/7, rostered, multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural workforces.

Her background in both strategic and operational payroll, combined with a focus on continuous process improvement has Donna ideally placed to develop and deliver best practice services for AMS’s diverse client base.

Julie Halpin

Julie Halpin - Account Director – Government



Julie has had extensive experience in management, sales, channels and operations, while working with clients and partners during many years at both IBM and Oracle.

In recent years, Julie has focused on Central Government and enjoyed collaborating with agencies on transformational and digital initiatives to both grow NZ and drive efficiencies and productivity in the public sector.

Julie is excited to be part of an innovative NZ organisation with a passion for excellence and the client.

In the role of Account Director, Julie will work together with AMS's government clients and partners to help deliver business efficiencies and a better employee and customer experience.

Virginia Mitchell

Virginia Mitchell - Sales Manager



Virginia has worked in the IT sector for 20 years. During that time she has been responsible for managing business development and account management across Telco and ISP providers, for reseller channels, software houses and data analytics consultancies.

Virginia has used her market knowledge to develop business for companies new to the New Zealand market and she has successfully developed the client base of leading New Zealand brands in the private sector and across health and government. Working with both enterprise and smaller organisations, Virginia is focused on delivering measurable business benefits for her clients.

Virginia is now the AMS team’s market connector and her latest mission is to reposition AMS from being such a quiet achiever and to let the New Zealand market know about the proven benefits it delivers.

Noel Horne

Noel Horne - Account Manager



Noel has worked in the corporate IT Finance and HRMIS sectors for over 30 years, in both NZ and Australia. His passion is inspiring customers to achieve their business outcomes through cost effective innovation and technology solutions. Understanding customers specific needs and matching them to the resources and capabilities of AMS bring opportunities and form valuable partner relationships to deliver real business outcomes.

Nikki Hayes

Nikki Hayes – Product Manager



Nikki worked with LEADER at ACC in Wellington, when she moved to Auckland to start a family, AMS offered her a casual contract to help implement a new client and she never left. She has been in many roles within AMS and enjoys getting stuck in and working with customers to solve their problems.  

Nikki thinks that AMS as a company recognises and appreciates the individuality and skill of its employees – there is a great deal of mutual trust within the AMS environment which benefits the company as a whole.

She says she has seen a shift in the company over the last few years: AMS is now a more focussed and driven company with many exciting times ahead, capitalising on its people’s vast experiences and knowledge - investing in products and delivering benefit where most needed.

Colin Pretorius

Colin Pretorius - Product Manager



Colin worked for the South African Port Operations for 15 years as a Business Development Consultant, Remuneration Manager and HR Manager. He joined AMS after arriving in New Zealand ten years ago. Colin sees AMS being a company that develops innovative solutions to meet the changing needs of complex organisations. His aim is for AMS to become the ‘sought after’ solution provider through innovation, partnership and long term commitment to outcomes.

Nick Schubert

Nick Schubert - Software Development & IT Manager



Nick says he was almost fresh out of university when he joined the AMS, attracted by its exciting technical IT development that was unique in NZ, including developing its own platform and database engine. Nick believes the core foundations of enterprise level software systems need to be engineered to standards and perform so they remain beneath the consciousness of the enterprise. When he’s not doing R&D, Nick also looks after client hosting at AMS’ datacentre.
