29 Sep, 2026

Donna Luxford, Product Manager,  reflects on nearly 10 years with AMS Insurance Management, describing a career shaped by varied roles, customer-focused projects, continuous learning, and a passion for painting. She emphasizes the importance of delivering quality outcomes while adapting to rapid changes such as artificial intelligence.

How long have you been at AMS Insurance Management? How’s it been going so far?

It will be 10 years come January - a milestone that seems to have come around very quickly. I guess time flies when you're having fun!

What were you doing before this role? How did you find your way to AMS?

Before joining AMS, I worked at Sovereign (now AIA) in various roles. After arriving through a company merger, I initially continued as Training Manager before moving into Technology to work on a multi-year project. From there, I moved into several business analysis roles before my final position was disestablished. I already had a long-standing relationship with AMS as a customer and was very fortunate that the opportunity to join the team fell into place.

Tell us about some of the projects you have been part of over the past year.

It has been a mixture of customer- and product-focused projects, which keeps life interesting. I always enjoy the opportunity to work closely with our customers. It is very rewarding to play a role in enabling our partners to safeguard the financial futures of their members.

What has stood out most to you during your time at AMS Insurance Management?

The people. We are a close-knit team focused on enabling our partners to achieve the right outcomes for their customers. We enjoy delivering on our promises and having some fun along the way.

What are you looking forward to completing before the end of the year? What will be your biggest milestone?

As most would agree, the biggest change in 2026 has been the force that is AI. At the speed we can now move, no milestone seems quite so big anymore. It is not about how much we can do, but how smartly we can use the tools available to deliver quality and achieve the right outcomes.

What do you enjoy outside of work? Do you have a personal motto or something you live by?

I recently told someone, “Find your passion.” Coincidentally, I took up painting soon after joining AMS, and it has become one of mine. It gives me space to create, focus, switch off and see things from a new perspective.

What has been the biggest thing you’ve learned since joining AMS Insurance Management?

There is a lot, and I am definitely still learning every day. I am not sure what the biggest lesson has been, but I have learned that you can keep growing and adapting, because the world around you will continue to change anyway.

What advice would you give someone thinking about joining AMS?

If you are passionate about delivering great outcomes for deserving customers and have the opportunity to join AMS, then take it.
