Blending Technical Depth with a Collaborative Spirit

Gregory joined AMS as a Software Developer about two and a half years ago and has become a thoughtful and steady presence within the team. Known for his calm approach, curiosity, and reliability, he brings grounded energy to every project he works on.

We sat down with Gregory to learn more about his journey, his interests, and what keeps him motivated at work.

Getting to know Gregory

Gregory was drawn to AMS by the complexity of the work and the people behind it. From his earliest conversations, he could see the depth of domain knowledge in the team and the importance of the customers and sectors we support. He liked that AMS offered variety, challenges, and room to keep learning.

His role at AMS

As a Software Developer, Gregory works across the AMS platform and contributes to a mix of products and internal tools. One project he is proud of is an internal AI-based tool (CSI) he created to help staff launch the correct application version without manual setup. What began as an experiment is now used across the business to streamline workflows.

He has recently taken on more customer-facing work as part of the Health NZ migration project. Talking with customers and seeing the impact of his work directly is something he finds especially rewarding.

What he enjoys about AMS

Gregory values the shared energy that comes from solving problems with others. He enjoys the balance that AMS offers. The autonomy for critical thinking and leadership support is very important to him. He also appreciates the motivation he gets from colleagues like Roger (Senior Consultant), whose enthusiasm lifts the team during busy periods.

Outside of work

Outside the office, Gregory enjoys social hockey, gaming, and gardening. He grows his own vegetables and recently started using eggshells as biodegradable seedling pots. He is also a marathon runner.

What keeps him motivated

“One step at a time. Just keep moving forward.”

Gregory is driven by the people he works with and the sense of shared purpose in the team. “It helps when you feel part of something. When the team around you is excited, it rubs off.” His mantra sums him up well: one step at a time, keep moving forward.
